Abstract
By monitoring the intermodal interference pattern, we realize online diameter calibration during optical microfiber (OM) tapering process. By a comparison of LP02 mode cut-off position between theoretically prediction and the actual monitoring result, we introduce modifications of tapered parameters, and realize an online and precise feedback control in the OM tapered process. Our online feedback control technology provides an effective tool in acquiring high quality OMs by improving the tapered accuracy while maintaining good repeatability, which is essential for applications in scientific research and engineering areas.
