Discharge plasma in contact with a liquid is an interesting interdisciplinary research field which involves plasma science, physics, chemistry as well as electrochemistry. The contact of plasma with a liquid presents a novel plasma-liquid interface through which mass and charge are exchanged between the gaseous plasma and the liquid. Consequently, the plasma reactivity is transferred to the liquid from the plasma-liquid interface, and many novel applications of the plasma-liquid system are based on this reactivity transfer, such as advanced materials synthesis, wastewater treatment, and plasma medicine. A great number of researches have been performed for understanding and applying the plasma in contact with a liquid. This session will provide the state-of-the-art and identify the present research challenges of the plasma in contact with a liquid. The recent developments in the theory and experiment for the plasmas in contact with a liquid including probing, modeling, and applications will be discussed.
