Progress in Electromagnetics Research Symposium (PIERS) provides an international forum for reporting progress and recent advances in the modern development of electromagnetic theory and its new and exciting applications.

GUIDELINES FOR PRESENTERS

Oral Presentations

Each session room is equipped with a stationary computer connected to a LCD projector (beamer). A standard overhead projector for transparencies is also available. Presenters choosing to use electronic presentation must load their presentation files in advance onto the central PIERS computer in the PIERS office and use the session computer for their presentation. Presenters are not allowed to detach the session computer and attach their own notebook/laptop to the LCD projector.

The PIERS computer is equipped with a USB port and a CD-ROM drive. To load your presentation to the PIERS computer, please email it to us ahead of time or load it directly on our computers when you receive your conference material.

A USB flash or CD-ROM can be used to transfer the presentation files (Power Point, Acrobat Reader, Windows Media Player and other main support available) into the PIERS computer. A technician personnel will be available to assist you. Presenters can test their presentation at the PIERS office no later than half-day before their session. Scheduled time slots for presentation are 20 minute each, including questions and discussions. Presenters are required to report to their session room and to their session Chair at least 10 minutes prior to the start of their session. The session chair must be presented in the session room at least 15 minutes before the start of the session and must strictly observe the starting time and time limit of each paper and refrain from changing paper presentation sequence.

Poster Presentations

Presenters are requested to stand by their posters during their session. One panel (about 100 x 200 cm) will be available for each poster. Pins or thumbtacks are provided to mount your posters on the board.

The poster session 1 will be 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM and the poster session 2 will be 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM on Monday, March 27, 2006. All presenters are required to mount their papers one hour before the session and remove them at the end of their sessions.

Authors are invited to submit a one-page abstract in English. No full-length paper is required. On a separate page list the following information: (1) Title of the paper, (2) Name of the author(s), (3) E-mail address of each author, (4) Affiliation(s), (5) Complete mailing address, (6) Telephone / Fax numbers, (7) Corresponding author and presenting author, (8) Topic or Session organizer, if applicable. (9) State if poster presentation is preferred.

The LaTeX file is preferred. A style file is prepared for the LaTeX users.

    Author(s) of accepted papers will receive from PIERS Office instructions for pre-registraion. The presenting author of the abstract is required to pre-register and pay a non-refundable pre-registration fee to PIERS Office. Each presenting author is limited to presenting no more than three papers. Inclusion of the paper in the Technical Program is guaranteed only after the pre-registration of the presenting author is completed.

    Full-length paper submission deadline coincides with the pre-registration deadline. Limited number of full-length papers will be selected for publication in the Journal of Electromagnetic Waves and Applications (JEMWA) or Progress in Electromagnetics Research (PIER). Authors of the selected papers will be notified no later than one month after the last conference date by JEMWA/PIER Editorial Board.

    Session Organizers

    For session organization, please go to PIERS SURVEY

    Session organizers or invited participants may be receiving multiple invitations from members of the various PIERS Committees or other session organizers. One need not be overly concerned with a session topic that might be in conflict or overlapping with topics of other sessions. Multiple sessions in the same technical area will serve to enhance the strength and interest of the area at the Symposium. The Technical Committee will schedule sessions of similar topics at different times over the Symposium period.

    Each organized session should have eight to eleven papers that will not be subject to the regular review cycle. The session organizer have full authority in soliciting and accepting papers for the session. The allocated presentation time for each paper is 20 minutes that includes the time for questions from the audience. Each author is limited to presenting no more than three papers (including poster papers) at the Symposium and is required to register in advance. The names of the session organizers will be listed under PIERS organization on the web page, and in the printed version of all PIERS publications when more than five papers of an organized session are received. The session organizer can then designate a chair and a co-chair for the session.

    There is no financial subsistence provided for our invitees.

    Registration

    All presenting authors must pay non-refundable pre-registration fee. Only pre-registered abstracts before 7 November 2005 will be scheduled in the symposium program.
    Before 7 November 2005, the pre-registration fee is US $395 and for students with valid identification, US $195. After 7 November 2005, and during the sumposium, the registration fee will be increased to US $500, and for students US $300.
